Using the sups as a vaginal suppository, it’ll be hard to tell that the issue is resolved WHILE you’re doing the suppositories (because of the increased discharge I noted in my previous answer.)

After a full week of twice daily treatment, stop the suppositories. By the next day, the symptoms should be 100% resolved .

Abby – good stuff! Boric acid is an excellent and highly effective method to treat BV. It can be used for UTIs and yeast infections, too!

One suppository cap per day for about a week should do it. Again, there’s the increased discharge issue while you’re using the suppositories, so sometimes you have to discontinue and wait a day to see the results.

The boric acid method is particularly good for chronic sufferers.

And you could do the boric acid for 1 week then follow-up with 3 days of probiotics to really give that infection a knock out punch! :)

acidophilus works against yeast infections, not bacterial vaginosis.

You need antibiotics to clear up BV. Go to the doctor.

Although Acidophilus itself won’t cure BV directly, it can help reset your vaginal environment to a more healthy state.

I recently had BV myself, and my naturopathic RNP taught me this little trick:
Buy some boric acid powder and load an empty vegetarian capsule. When inserted in the vagina (DO NOT EAT!) it makes the PH more acidic. BV prefers a less acidic environment, whereas the good bacteria prefer an acidic environment.

Just insert one capsule a day until signs of BV disappear. If you experience any burning with this product, take a break.

Cheap and not as destructive to your gut flora as antibiotics. Antibiotics tend to cause more problems than cure sometimes.

yes, acidophilus will help as it will help restore the natural balance. But, instead of heading to a doctor for antibiotics, use natural antibiotic like Grapefruit Seed Extract. You can get the liquid and dilute it for a douche that will directly impact the effected area. You can also use tea tree oil or oil of oregano. Here we use Grapefruit Seed Extract in place of antibiotics though. It works well, and quickly. Found it when looking for an alternative for a son who is allergic.
