First, I would like to assure you not to worry, since it will not take over your life, if you know how to avoid it and how to treat it right… :)

Second, I think it’s the tampon that caused you in trouble. Using colored/chemical contained or perfumed/ tampon could disturb the pH balance in the vagina, then it causes you to have bacterial vaginosis (BV). My advice is you stop using tampon as soon as possible. There are other things also that can cause BV such as douching and having multiple sex partner. So, it would be best to avoid them.

Here are some sites that I hope can help you

Good luck…

YOU REALLY NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR. If the odor is that pungent, then it means you probably have a more complicated infection that needs antibiotics to treat it. I would schedule an appointment with the doc so he can run a wet prep, a test that checks for BV and a culture to see which drugs will fight it the best.

In the meantime, eat lots of yogurt, wear cotton underwear, drink plenty of fluids and maybe try repHresh from the drugstore? i've heard it can be slightly helpful to those who have BV. Whatever you do, do not douche or use fragranced items.

Oh it usually smells slightly fishy or basic and is usually but not always accompanied by a discharge that can range from off white to slightly yellow-green. not to be gross. You also might have it if sex is uncomfortable.

Hope this helps!

How long was the tampon inside? You should most likely see your doctor. A strong odor can be caused by many things, and most are very easy to clear up.

I would definitely have it checked by a professional, though. You could at least call and talk to the nurse in the physician's office. She might be able to help you over the phone.

Some remedies that you can use are yogurt, garlic, and tea tree oil. There are other things that you can do to.

I found a blog that gave tips on using home remedies to permanently cure bacterial vaginosis.

I'll leave a link to the blog below.
