I hate getting bacterial vaginosis. It’s a headache to deal with. I feel miserable, frustrated, and helpless whenever I get BV. And that’s why I had to find some home remedies for bacterial vaginosis. I wanted to know how to cure BV without having to keep going to the doctor every other month for antibiotics. Read More...
I completed my regimen of 500mg flagyl, 2 pills a day for 7 days to treat BV yesterday, and was wondering how long I have to wait before I have sex. The pamphlet I received did not specify. I know obviously I was not supposed to have sex while on the pills, which I didn’t, but am wondering if everything seems to have cleared, when I am safe to have sex again? Thanks!

Did your MD say anything about your partner being treated – alot of times if your partner is not treated you will get the infection back – you may have given to him or him given it to you – I would call the MD and check about that if I were you
It should be ok to have sex now that you are done with the treatment but I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
Can you Have sex with your partner during treatment? If no? even if he uses a condom?
My doctor said men don’t catch BV and not to worry about that. It’s a matter of your “bad” bacteria being out of control, so it’s not like something foreign is in there wreaking havoc. It’s just an imbalance of the bacteria that are natural. Not really an “infection” the way we think of it. If you also happen to have a yeast infection, that’s a different story. He can catch that.
I read in a couple of other places online that it’s best to wait until after the treatment is over to have sex because your vagina needs time for the PH to balance out. Semen affects the PH in your vagina, so it’s best to wait. A condom might be a way around it.
The Doctor says the boyfriend can’t get BV. But he may have a yeast infection..
Flagyl can weaken the latex of condoms during treatment, just a heads up.
