How common is a yeast infection after treatment for bacterial vaginosis?
I was recently diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis (bv) and am on antibiotics (metrogel) for treatment. I know that antibiotics can cause other problems and even lead to other infections like yeast infections afterwards- the doctor did not give me anything to take for yeast afterwards. I was wondering if anyone has taken treatment for bv and successfully avoideded a yeast infection afterwards or if i am doomed to have one.

If you have a good doctor he can actually prescribe a medication (pill form) that is taken along with your antibiotics that will prevent a yeast infection. Since I am prone to yeast infections, I have taken some of these medication but I had the best results after reading this book – no yeast infections since then.
If it hasn’t happened yet you might be doing something wrong I suggest that you’ll read this book about bv or this one about yeast infection
You are not "doomed" to have a yeast infection after antibiotic treatment for the bacterial infection. However, why take the chance? There are simple over-the-counter remedies for yeast infections widely available. Use one of them in anticipation of the problem, if you are that concerned. Otherwise, have the medication "on hand" at home and use it at the first sign or itch.
